The 2017 International Conference on Broadband Communication, Wireless Sensors and Powering (BCWSP 2017)

Universitas Mercu Buana, Jakarta organize the 2017 International Conference on Broadband Communication, Wireless Sensors and Powering (BCWSP 2017), which aims to bring academic scientists, research scholars and practitioners to exchange and share their experiences and research results on all aspects of Broadband Communications, Wireless Sensors, and Powering.

It also provides a premier interdisciplinary platform for researchers, educators and practitioners to present and discuss the most recent innovations, trends, and concerns as well as practical challenges encountered and solutions adopted in the fields of Broadband Communications, Wireless Sensors, and Powering (included in IEEE Conference #41814).

Universitas Mercu Buana, Jakarta and IEEE Indonesia Section are organizing the Conference. 

BCWSP 2017will take place in Jakarta, between 21 and 23 November 2017.

IEEE Distinguished Lecture on Compressive Sensing – Basics, State of the Art, and Advances

On Tuesday, May 16 2017, Prof.  Andrea Massa, Eledia Research Center at University of Trento, Italia, gave a lecture on emerging thema in Compressive Sensing at Universitas Mercu Buana Meruya.

We arranged a seminar on IoT on Tuesday May 9 2017 in room C203, Universitas Mercu Buana, Jakarta. Mr. Toto Suharto MSc and Mr. Frederik Troester talk about Creating Innovations for Internet of Things (IoT).


Vector Network Analyzer 67 GHz

On May 2 2017, finally the RS ZVA67 vector network analyzer is delivered to the Laboratory of Microwave Engineering, Universitas Mercu Buana.

The Laboratory of Microwave Engineering belongs to the Research Group Advanced Telecommunication and Applied Electromagnetics (A-Team), which concerns with the development of components for millimeter waves.

With this VNA we open research possibilities up to 67 GHz.

Today, 22 February 2017 at UMB Campus Meruya, The Master Program of Electrical Engineering, Universitas Mercu Buana arranged a Distinguished Lecturer Program of the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society (IEEE APS).  Prof. Karu Esselle PhD, Professor of Electronic Engineering, Macquarie University, Sydney, talked about: Many names, many advantages – Are resonant cavity antennas the killer planar space-saving approach to get 15-25 dBi gain ?


Pemanfaatan Disruptive Technology Memakai SIP

Pada kesempatan “Alumni-Talk” tanggal 17 Desember 2016, Mr. Tjetjep Roni Budiman memaparkan tema tentang Pemanfaatan Disruptive Technology.

Disruptive Innovation merupakan istilah yang dibuat oleh Clayton Christensen, seorang profesor dari Harvard Business School yang merupakan salah satu ahli di dunia dalam inovasi dan pertumbuhannya, idenya berkembang luas dalam industri dan organisasi di dunia. Dalam istilahnya dijelaskan, disruptive innovation merupakan sebuah proses dimana produk atau layanan pada awalnya diterapkan secara sederhana pada bagian bawah pasar dan selanjutnya bergerak naik, pada akhirnya akan menjadi pesaing yang tangguh.

On Sunday,  27 March 2016, Dr. Abdusy Syarif gave a talk on “Optimizing and Enhancing the lifetime of WSN Deployment”  approached by  MOP (Multi-objective Optimisation Problem) and Operator Calculus .

Distinguished Lecturer Program (DLP) IEEE 2015

Today, 25 August 2015 Prof. Eryk Dutkiewicz from Department of Engineering, Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia, visited us at the Meruya Campus, and gave a presentation entitled “Challenges of Machine-to-Machine Communications and Dynamic  Spectrum Sharing for 5G Mobile Networks “.

This talk presents the concept of Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communications and describes key emerging applications expected to be enabled by M2M. Existing and emerging standards are briefly reviewed for both access networks and mobile networks to support M2M communications. These include 802.15.4e and 802.11ah standards for access networks and enhancements of LTE mobile network standards. Technical challenges of M2M are described for both access and mobile networks. An overview of emerging 5G standards is given including a discussion of issues being addressed to enable the support of M2M communications and applications. One of the key challenges of 5G networks is efficient spectrum sharing.

5G – Evolution and Candidate Technologies


Again, an expert in Telecommunication engineering visited the Universitas Mercu Buana, Jakarta, and talked about next opportunities to improve the quality and capacity of our wireless systems. On August, 26 2014, Dr. Rath Vannithamby, Intel Labs, gave a very interesting talk about 5G.

On January 25, 2014, Prof. Sureswaran Ramadass, Director of the National Advanced IPv6 Centre of Excellence (NAV6) at Universiti Sains Malaysia, gave a lecture on basics of IPv6 at our department.

Postdoc at TU Muenchen

From November to December 2012, Dr.-Ing. Mudrik Alaydrus had the opportunity to stay at the
Technische Universitaet Muenchen as Postdoc researcher. He visited Prof. Dr.-Ing. Thomas Eibert
at the Lehrstuhl fuer Hochfrequenztechnik, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology.






Vector Network Analyzer ZVL 13

Department of Electrical Engineering recently received an equipment grant from DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) in form of a Vector Network Analyzer which is able to measure scattering parameters up to 13.6 GHz.

This instrument completes the available capabilities of the Telco Lab at UMB to offer the researchers and students to develop researchs.
